crazyness

well today I went to have lunch at a mexican place with some mexican coworkers and the waiter came up to us and started speaking spanish really fast. I did make out a couple words and when he said margarita I knew he was asking what we wanted for drinks. It was kinda crazy and cool at the same time.

let there be pain

For some reason God decided that I need to experience pain today.

At community group, a chair got knocked over and landed quite squarely on my foot, it smarted. Next, on my way back from nick and Diana's I noticed a red light at the last second and cranked the front break so much that it skidded into the ground. It was all over in an instant. There was a slight screach of rubber then the a thwack as my head hit the pavement of downtown portland. I got to use my AAA premium membership to have them tow my bike home and I got some roadrash to boot, so yeah lots of pain for today.

That is all.

awkward

coworker: What would you say you are about paul?

Me: Hmmm (pause) I'd say I'm all about Jesus.

Coworker: Jesus? I can't say he's been doing anything lately

(long pause, uncomfortable stare)

Please stop harassing me now

Yesterday I took the riding test and passed with a flying 97% Yes sirs and maams, I now am legal to ride alone.

I also have bragging rights for my coworker he took the test earlier this summer and drove all over the cones, put his foot down. The test giver said there was no point in continuing he had already failed. I got to hear from him about how unfair the test was and how useless and frusterating he felt about the team oregon motorcycle safety test.

So the bragging rights were nice but we did talk about how nice it is to not be all nervous every time a cop is checking us out.

Broken Fence

Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the White House in D.C. One from New Jersey , another from Tennessee and the third, Florida . They go with a White House official to examine the fence.

The Florida contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. "Well", he says, "I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for materials,
$400 for my crew and $100 profit for me."

The Tennessee contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $700: $300
for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me."

The New Jersey contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the White House official and whispers, "$2,700"

The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"

The New Jersey contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Tennessee to fix the fence."

"Done!" replies the government official.

And that friends, is how it all works!!!

Kumoricon

After work today I went over to vancouver for this mini con thing that kumorcon was having. It was a blast, the place wasn't all packed out like a real con but there were people there that liked anime. I drove a couple people that lived in beaverton down there and hung out most of the day.

I did unveil the sesshomaru costume there, I think about 200-300 people were there. They expect around 3000 people at the con. That place is going to be packed.

Got a Grill!

Friday before last my friend got married and at his wedding I got to see a few people that I had lost touch with over the years. Anyway, over a few drinks I got the hook up with a new grill, apparently steve had a redundant grill and was looking to free up some balcony space.

Nick helped me move it and I got a bottle, mike is cooking right now.

Also, Diana was hanging with some old friends so Nick and I did some hiking out into the local wilderness off of barnes road and west of cedar hills. We found a couple camps off the beaten path, some tents were out there, saw a sleeping bag hanging from a tree. There was a very large pile of garbage. Another path there was a guy who was getting out of a tent, I told nick we should just leave them in peace. He didn't see the guy but I think it would be kinda rude to just barge in there.

It doesn't really bother me that there are people camping in the woods, however it does bother me that they are littering all over the place....

What is the christlike way to respond to seeing something like that?

My Weekend

I worked most of the weekend so it really starts sunday morning. Slept a good chunk of sunday then went to church and hung out with Nick and Diana after that (they didn't want to swing dance but I wanted to hear about their trip to kenya more than dancing with cute girls) so that was cool. There was a homeless couple staying on their lawn that Nick and I talked to. We didn't kick them off because it looked like the reason they came out there was because being homeless downtown is harder, it isn't quiet and him and his girl didn't feel safe, he said that he got in some fights with other people and just as soon look for another spot to squat until they could find some real housing.

Monday, I worked on my cosplay costume trying to get the armor together, I mostly used duct tape and safety pins but I think with a couple more safety pins and a friend I can get it to stay up. Bobbie did say that I looked like I was wearing a giant bra with spikes though.... hmmm...

Then I went to game night at Hans, which was cool. We played scattigories and then Wii that was fun. I still am not any good at that but it is intense. I'm not used to this whole standing up and swinging around to play a game. It is weird to play video games that leave you tired physically.
